Unveiling the Grandeur: A Comprehensive Look at Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong

If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram, you’ll know I recently made another quick trip to Hong Kong for a mileage run. This was just a few weeks after my previous visit where I stayed at the JW Marriott and took some great photos. This time, I was only in town for 17 hours, which sounds crazy, I know.

I needed to catch some sleep and also wanted to snap some pictures of a different hotel for you guys. So, I chose the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. My friends Michael and Mark had told me about the unbeatable views and the fantastic lounge, so it was a no-brainer.

Since my stay was so close to my previous one at the JW Marriott, I thought it would be interesting to compare the two. Upon checking in at the Grand Hyatt, I was upgraded to a Harbour View room and was told to hurry to catch the Symphony of Lights show. The view was indeed spectacular.

The room was fantastic, with a view that few other hotel rooms could match. The JW Marriott had large windows, but the view was mostly of other buildings. The Grand Hyatt, on the other hand, is right on the shore, offering an unobstructed view of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline. The amenities were on par with other Grand Hyatts.

The bathroom was a standout feature, with a rain shower head and a bathtub that overlooked the room and the view. Comparing the two, the rooms were pretty much equal, but the bathroom at the Grand Hyatt gave it a slight edge over the JW Marriott.

In terms of location, the Grand Hyatt is right on the shore of Victoria Harbour, while the JW Marriott is a bit further inland. This could be subjective, but I usually use the MTR to get around the city. The JW Marriott is practically attached to an MTR station, while the Grand Hyatt is a 5-8 minute walk from one.

The Grand Hyatt property was absolutely gorgeous, slightly edging out the JW Marriott. Both were well-maintained and architecturally interesting, but the Grand Hyatt just had that extra bit of grandeur.

I didn’t have access to the JW Marriott lounge, so I can’t compare the two. However, the Grand Club Lounge at the Grand Hyatt was impressive. I was able to take some great photos late at night when it was less crowded, and the breakfast spread the next morning was excellent.

In the end, I have to give it to the Grand Hyatt. While I liked the location of the JW Marriott a bit better, the Grand Hyatt was superior in all other aspects. Both hotels are similarly priced, so it might come down to which loyalty program you prefer. I’m a big fan of Hyatt, so I’ll likely be staying at the Grand Hyatt again in the future.

Next time, I think I’ll try out the Conrad Hong Kong for comparison. Stay tuned!
