A couple of weeks back, I found myself in New York, not because I have family there, but because they were visiting and I thought, why not join them? The first night, I stayed at the Hilton New York in midtown Manhattan. It’s a huge place, nice enough on the inside, but lacking a bit of character.
I had to stay another night and while looking for hotels, I kept coming back to the Park Hyatt New York. It was way over my budget, around $900 per night, but I had some Hyatt points to use. So, I thought, why not give it a shot and review the Park Hyatt New York?
The Park Hyatt New York is right in the middle of New York’s 57th street, surrounded by luxury shops and other high-end hotels. It’s close to Central Park, but don’t expect sweeping park views from your room. There are residences on the upper floors with better views, but I didn’t have access to those.
I decided to use my points to book a night at the hotel. It cost me 30,000 points for a standard room, which was a bit steep, but I thought it would be worth it to share my experience and some photos with you all.
The hotel entrance is quite subtle and easy to miss. I found it eventually, checked in around 2pm, and was told my room would be ready in about an hour. In the meantime, I went to see a show with my uncle. The musical “Beautiful” was absolutely amazing, by the way!
When I returned, my room was ready and my bags had already been delivered. The room was large, especially for New York City standards, and the design was minimalistic and upscale. The bed was comfortable, and the desk had a business-quality phone, a universal power outlet setup, and a tablet with information about the hotel.
The restroom was huge, even bigger than the bedroom. It had a bathtub next to the window with a sliver of a view of Central Park, his and hers sinks, and two frosted glass doors leading to the shower and toilet. The shower area was massive and had its own vanity mirror!
The hotel property was beautiful, but I didn’t get as many photos as I would’ve liked because the staff seemed a bit nervous about my tripod. I did manage to get some shots of the gorgeous indoor pool on the 25th floor, though.
After my one-night stay, I checked out, feeling happy with my decision. I could’ve gotten more value from my 30,000 points, but there’s something exciting about staying at a flagship property. The design of the hotel was consistent with other Park Hyatts I’ve stayed at, and the service was professional. I can’t say if it’s worth $900 per night, but I enjoyed my stay.
So, have you been to the Park Hyatt New York? Do you think it’s worth the 30k points for an award stay?
