Over the MLK weekend, my buddy Amanda and I decided to take a quick trip to Hong Kong. We started our journey in Toronto, where we spent a night at the Hilton Toronto Airport before heading back to DFW, our original starting point. From there, we boarded an American 777-300ER for a speedy 16-hour flight to Hong Kong.
Once we landed, we were impressed by the efficiency of Hong Kong’s public transportation. We took the Airport Express train, which was quite affordable at $13USD for a one-way ticket, and arrived at Hong Kong Station in just 26 minutes. We then switched to the subway, hopping on the Blue Line, and got off at Admiralty Station.
Our destination was a mall, one of the countless malls in Hong Kong, which also happened to house the entrance to the JW Marriott. We were greeted by a doorman who promptly assisted us to the lobby where we checked into our room. To our delight, we were upgraded to a corner room at no extra cost. The room was fantastic, with comfortable beds and a welcoming fruit plate and tea waiting for us.
We didn’t get a chance to try out the hotel’s restaurants or health club, but we were quite taken with the beauty of the property. The location was decent, though it seemed more suited for business travelers. The stay was quite pleasant, especially considering we used points for our two-night stay, which would have otherwise cost us $300 per night.
I was eager to compare this experience with my upcoming stay at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Stay tuned for that review!
