"Rewritten Content": "Let’s dive into my recent travel adventure. I had to rework my plans a bit, but I finally boarded a Lufthansa A330, old first class, from DFW to FRA. I even got to drive the Nurburgring Nordschleife and hang out at the Lufthansa First Class Terminal. I then flew to Oslo to join Chris Guillebeau’s celebration. From there, I took a Singapore A380 Suites Class flight from FRA to SIN, and then a Singapore Airlines Private Room and Singapore 777-300ER First Class flight from SIN to HKG.
Arriving in Hong Kong, I felt like a pro. I’d been there the previous year, so I knew the ropes. I hopped on the Airport Express train, a smooth 30-minute ride into the city. I was eager to see Hong Kong at night, a contrast to my morning layover last year when I got lost for a couple of hours. This time, I knew exactly where I was going: the Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui. I chose it because they had room, and I could use my Hyatt points.
The hotel was part of a huge complex called K11, just off Nathan Road. After two visits, I’ve concluded that everything on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong is basically a giant shopping center. I took a cab from Kowloon station to the K11 mall entrance, then walked the rest of the way. As I navigated the bustling evening streets, I was repeatedly offered fake watches, which I declined.
I finally found the Hyatt, located in a beautiful building at the base of the K11 complex. I’m an amateur photographer, so I couldn’t resist capturing the scene in HDR, especially at night. I checked in at the lobby, was upgraded to a suite, and was invited to check in at the Regency Club on the 24th floor. My suite was on the 15th floor, but the minor elevator hopping was worth it for the amazing room.
The Hyatt staff were friendly and accommodating. There was one incident that upset me, but they apologized sincerely and followed up with emails about their investigation after I returned home. I believe you’ll have a great stay at this Hyatt if you ever visit Hong Kong. It’s a good deal for 18,000 Hyatt points.
I went for an evening stroll, despite the 138% humidity. I was repeatedly asked if I wanted to buy a fake watch or custom clothes. I found that responding with a Russian accent and acting offended worked wonders in deterring the hawkers. I’m glad I spent a night in Hong Kong and got to take some great photos.
Back at the hotel, I took a long bath, a habit I seem to have when I travel. I reflected on my blessings and the amazing trip I was on. I was excited about the next day, but I didn’t want to go home. For the first time, I was on the road and missed being on the road. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the soft, comfortable pillow.
Up next: the end of my trip. The Wing, Cathay Pacific First Class, and American First Class."
